Skopelos amazing beaches, almost all year round sunshine, the enormous historical interest and the green forests (it’s one of the greenest islands in the Aegean Sea) have raised the island to a great tourist destination.
Skopelos island is full with beaches with crystal clear turquoise waters among the green pines. The most beautiful of them are: Panormos beach, Stafilos beach, Agios Ioannis beach, Agnontas beach, Milla beach, Hovolo beach, Limnonari beach, Velanio beach, Glisteri beach, Glyfoneri beach & Kastani beach.
It is the largest settlement and the capital of the island. It is built amphitheatrically around the bay and the gorgeous whitewashed houses are very closely spaced with narrow streets full of charming flower gardens with bougainvillea and other colorful flowers. Going up from the port, you can visit the Venetian castle, which is built on the ancient Peparithos’s Acropolis.
It is the famous chapel, which the marriage of Sky and Sophie took place at Mama Mia Hollywood movie.Agios Ioannis or Ai Giannis is located in Kastri area, on the north side of the island, 7km east of Glossa village. It is built by the sea, on top of a cliff of 100 meters, with more than 100 carved steps, providing an amazing sea view to the coasts of Skopelos and to Alonissos.
